The Advantages of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

One mistake we make is not watching for new designs in old technology. New designs are made because old ones have become unacceptable. When we hear or see a cover story on a topic we think we know a whole lot about, we flip the page or go on to the next topic. Many people who think they know a lot about them tend to skip all the news about wind turbines because they know so much about the old systems they are board with the topic. Really all they truly know about is the OLD wind turbine technology.

Things are very different now and unlike many other power generators, wind power is user friendly. New designs in axis wind turbines for homes are driving the winds of change for home owners and energy efficiency. The most successful green power systems of the present day and the future is and will be supplemented by wind power generators. Read on to find out why and what new designs are irrefutably “The Next Big Thing” for going green.

The current movement in green energy is obvious when you watch the evening news but one thing you rarely see is the use of wind power at home. Maybe they want to keep this one a secret and I know why. Energy generated by the wind is currently the only true green power generation source by all standards of measurement. The reason being that you can build a wind turbine out of basic materials like scrap wire and metal parts with very few tools and virtually no technology gadgets. If a wind turbine breaks down, repairing it can be done with very basic materials and low-tech or should I say no-tech pieces and parts.

You can’t even dream of doing that with gas motor generators and definitely not solar cell power generation because the many technologically complicated parts require factory made replacements rather than just repairs. In the recent past you could understand why people with lots of common sense would reject the idea of electrical power generation by wind due to one little big batch of problems.., weather proofing the delicate construction of the bearings and electrical system along with a low power output due to very week magnets in the motor and then mounting all that atop a large pole with guy wires etc…I’m sure you get the picture.

All of those problems have been solved with the development of super strong Neodymium motor magnets and a completely new evolution of blade systems to quietly catch the wind in lower elevations (on rooftops) and completely new style of no friction magnetic levitation bearings and as of late we have some brand new artistic designs for the Vertical Axis Wind Turbines STYLES. That’s right, if you don’t like the thought of big noisy visually obstructive wind turbines, you must take a look at the new low profile, high output, easy install axis wind turbines. Most people use the words “Easy Install” as a sales tactic but the truth is simply that if its hard to install, it will cost more.

It is up to us to keep the bottom line low which makes the bottom line more in tune with the green power movement. I hope this helps and if want to see much more on this and many other turbine topics click on the links below.

DIY Wind Generator – Homemade Wind Turbine Plans

If you are serious about making a DIY wind generator, the first thing that you are going to have to do is find yourself some homemade wind turbine plans. Sales of these plans are going mad at the moment. The combination of the high cost of electricity and concern about the welfare of our planet, have sent sales soaring.

Quality plans for your DIY wind generator, start at around $50, and are available in paper version or from the internet in a downloadable form. The total cost of the materials to create your own wind turbine is going to be in the region of $200 and are readily available at most good hardware stores.

I consider this to be money well spent.

A good, reliable, ready-made version of a similar wind generator is going to set you back in the region of $2000 and upwards. Even at this price, this is great value in itself because the generator will pay for itself in a couple of years.

Better value by a long way is the DIY wind generator route. Once you have the plans for your wind turbine, you can replicate the process over and over again. One turbine probably won’t provide all of the electricity for your household needs, but two or three DIY wind generators should be ample. Not only will your electricity bills be none existent, with the correct set up, you will be able to sell surplus electricity from your wind turbines, back to the national grid.

Homemade wind turbine plans are set out in an easy to follow format. They will explain everything from getting the correct materials to making your turbine to setting it up. With the downloadable plans, if at any time you have a problem with any aspect of your project, there will be customer support which are very helpful and quick in their response. The best guides will also supply video instructions to work along side the written plans.

The way I see it is that there are many benefits to making a DIY wind generator. There are two main benefits, financial and environmental.

Electricity bills can be reduced or eliminated. Price rises won’t effect you any more. Surplus electricity can be sold back to the grid. Your investment will pay for itself over and over again.

Carbon emissions will be reduced. The air will be cleaner. Rivers and waterways will be free of pollution. Transportation of fossil fuels will be lessened.

Making a DIY wind generator is fun and is a great way to bond and spend time together with the family. It is very satisfying and rewarding experience knowing that you are making your own electricity and are helping the planet.
